We finally got some snow in the central piedmont this weekend! It's the first time we've had more than a flurry since we moved to this area two years ago. The total accumulation was not quite half an inch--nothing in comparison to what we used to see in central Ohio. Oh, but it was BEAUTIFUL as it fell and during the brief time it coated the tree branches and laid on the ground. My girls, of course, took full advantage of this fleeting opportunity to build teensy-weensy snow people on the back deck and make snow angels on the lawn. The goats got a kick out of knocking it off the branches of the barnyard's evergreens. The chickens pretended not to be impressed but eventually couldn't resist meandering out to explore its taste and texture. G-P and I spent the evening gazing contentedly out the window, relishing the peaceful spell it cast on the landscape.
Thank you, Mother Nature, for sending your frostily frolicking fairies our way!

Snow-fairies falling, falling from the sky,
